We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Derrick Harris, our Health and Safety and Training Manager, on Boxing Day. Derrick’s career with ISF spanned an incredible 34 years, during which he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s success.
Derrick, more affectionately known as Harry by most of us, joined ISF in 1989, initially for a weekend job, which quickly evolved into a lifelong journey. As the company grew from it’s a small unit at the Raylor Centre to a well-known engineering provider, Derrick’s adaptability, problem-solving skills, and leadership were instrumental in overcoming challenges and driving the business forward.
He spearheaded ISF’s diversification into the construction sector during the foot-and-mouth crisis, managed landmark projects such as British Sugar’s York facility and Pinderfields Hospital, and later transitioned to overseeing health and safety, quality management, and staff training. Derrick’s perseverance shone through, even during personal battles with throat cancer, inspiring all who worked with him.
Derrick was more than a colleague; he was a mentor, a problem-solver, and a friend to many. His passion for his work, loyalty, and commitment to excellence have left an indelible mark on ISF and its people.
As we mourn his loss, we celebrate the incredible life he led and the profound impact he had on those around him. Our thoughts are with Derrick’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Derrick. You will be missed, but your legacy will live on in every project, every success, and every memory you helped create.
