Feed Mill Engineering News: ISF Round-Up June 2026
Out and about: a busy month for the ISF team
Here’s your latest feed mill engineering news from ISF. This month had a bit of everything: international travel, a glowing customer review, a customer installation, a look back at two favourite projects, and plenty of support for our local community.
VICTAM International 2026
David Hukins, Simon Manock, and several of our site engineers spent 24 hours in Utrecht for VICTAM International 2026. It’s the world’s largest dedicated event for the animal feed processing industry. It had been a few years since ISF last attended, and the team came back full of insight and caught up with suppliers and familiar industry faces, too. Highlights include seeing Ottevanger, Van Aarsen, and our partner Tietjen, who were showcasing their innovative FD 32 Pro Hammer Mill, for which they were awarded the prestigious AFTaN (Animal Feed Technology and Nutrition) Innovation Award.
We condensed the whole trip into a one-minute video; watch it on our LinkedIn page.
Hearing it from the customer
There’s no better measure of a job well done than hearing it directly from the people we work for. We recently completed a programme of repair and maintenance works for a long-standing feed mill customer. We worked to a tight schedule with weekend overtime to keep production on track.
The customer described the team as working “really well and, most importantly, safely”, with the installation of a crumbler completed so quickly it “raised an eyebrow”.

New Intake System installation: work in progress
On site this month, the team has been making steady progress on a new intake system installation for a customer. It’s a phased project that will get its own full case study once complete. Work so far has included fabricating and assembling intake extraction ducting sections, an intake hopper and transfer conveyor, and installing a new elevator boot and leg.
The crane you might have spotted in this month’s images was lifting the elevator head into position through an opening in the roof. A precise piece of work that required careful planning and skilled execution by the team on site. More to follow as the project progresses.
Throwback: a molasses tank built to last
We took a look back this month at a molasses tank we designed, manufactured and installed for a customer we’ve worked with for over 20 years. The tank receives molasses pumped from a main storage vessel, feeding it directly into the customer’s process. We surveyed the site and developed the design using Autodesk Inventor 3D modelling software. We then fabricated everything in our York workshop and completed the installation start to finish, exactly how we like it.
Throwback: turning waste into product
We also revisited a project with Heaton Green Dust Control to upgrade a filtration system at a customer’s feed mill. It allowed the dust from the milling process to be recycled back into the product rather than being wasted. The project involved upgrading the existing filter unit, designing and manufacturing a new conveyor support bridge, and installing the complete system on site. A tidy solution that improved efficiency and reduced waste in one go.
Supporting our community
Away from the workshop, we’ve continued to support causes close to home. We’re delighted to be sponsoring fifteen-year-old Jack Wood at Dunnington Cricket Club again this season. He scored a match-winning 66 runs against Heslington this month. We were also proud to support York College’s REACH Awards for a fourth year. Huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners, including Poppy Wadsworth, who won our sponsored Young Learner of the Year award. We had the pleasure of sitting with Poppy and her lovely mum, Alison, who was quite rightly bursting with pride. It was inspiring to hear Poppy’s story – a journey of determination, tenacity, and resilience. Congratulations, Poppy!
