We’re so excited to welcome Liam, our new Site Installation Engineer, to the team! He joined us at the end of 2024, with experience in fabrication & welding from his previous role where he developed his metal working skills. Keep reading for our Q&A with Liam to learn more about his journey so far.
Where were you working before and what did your role entail?
Before joining ISF, I was working at a local laser cutting company in a role where my focus was fabricating and welding bespoke products to customer specifications in a variety of different materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel.
What made you apply to ISF?
Being based near York, I had heard good things about ISF from a current employee. Their positive experience with the business encouraged me to go for the role. I was also ready for a change, and I felt I had the correct attitude and experience for the Site Installation Engineer role, as I was ready for something more challenging.
How are you settling in so far?
So far, I’m really enjoying the role! I feel that I’m fitting in with the team very well. They have a lot to teach, and I have a lot to learn, so I’m glad they are showing me all different parts of the job and best practices to get the job done in the most successful way.
What have you enjoyed, or are enjoying, the most?
What stands out to me is the variety of the work! Every day is so different, which keeps things interesting and allows me to learn a new skill every day. I also enjoy meeting new people at every job and building my connections in the industry.
What are you most looking forward to?
There is so much I’m excited about in this role, but I think what I’m most looking forward to is learning new skills that can further my career and progression at ISF. Since joining, I have been able to shadow the Project Installation Manager to learn more about organising projects, the importance of Health & Safety onsite, and communicating with the different teams.
What would you say to anyone considering applying to ISF?
I would say go for it! From what I’ve seen so far, the team is great, and the scope of learning is so wide. When joining ISF, a new and exciting career awaits!
