A Month of Progress, Precision, and Pride
October was another busy and productive month for the ISF team. From growing our workforce to celebrating engineering successes and recognition on the awards stage, we continued to build momentum across every part of the business. Here’s a closer look at what kept us moving this month:
Welcoming New Talent
We launched recruitment for two key roles: Plasma Operator (Engineering) and Delivery Driver (Flatbed). As we continue to grow, we’re looking for motivated people who want to be part of a supportive team and contribute to British engineering at its best. Applications are still open — so if you or someone you know could be a great fit, now’s the time to apply.
Celebrating Apprentice Progress
We proudly supported our apprentices, Connor and Finlay, as they entered the final year of their course at York College. Over the past two years, they’ve shown real dedication in both their studies and hands-on work at ISF — building skills in fabrication, engineering, and safety training. We can’t wait to see how their journey continues.
Passing Our ISO 9001 Audit — With Flying Colours
Quality is at the heart of everything we do. This month, we passed the ISO 9001 Quality Audit with no recommendations, a testament to our strong quality management system and continuous improvement mindset. It reflects the effort every member of our team puts into delivering the highest standards in every project.
Double Recognition at the Yorkshire Post Business Awards
We received fantastic news this month — ISF has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2025 Yorkshire Post Business Awards:
-
Best Small Business, and
-
Business Leader of the Year for our founder, Iain Scott.
With such a high calibre of entries this year, making the shortlist is an achievement we’re incredibly proud of. The team’s already polishing their shoes for awards night!
Engineering the Impossible — Every Day
Problem-solving sits at the core of ISF. In October, we shared more about how we engineer bespoke systems for animal feed mills across the UK — designing and fabricating conveyors, elevators, access platforms, and more. Our biggest strength? Finding smart, space-efficient solutions where others see constraints.
Precision in Every Weld
We also cast a spotlight on the skill behind the scenes — our fabrication team. Every weld, joint, and finish that leaves our York workshop is carried out in-house, to BS EN1090 standards. This gives us complete control over quality, lead times, and design flexibility — ensuring every product is built to last.
Looking Ahead
A huge thank you to our team, customers, and partners for another fantastic month.
Stay tuned for more updates — there’s plenty still to come.
