Six years at ISF! What’s been the best part?

I’ve loved being out on the road and meeting people at our customers’ mills. No two days are ever the same, and I’ve learnt loads about the industry.

What skills have you picked up along the way?

Plenty! It’s one of the great things about ISF, the training on offer. From Working at Heights and Confined Spaces training to forklift courses and fire safety. It’s been great to add more strings to my bow over the years.

So, where are you off to?

My wife and I are heading off on a big adventure! First stop, Southeast Asia. We’re planning to explore Bali, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. We’ll be soaking up the culture, seeing temples and tea plantations, spotting wildlife, and hopefully enjoying a few beaches along the way.

And after that?

We’ll pop back to the UK in spring 2026, then set off again in a campervan around Europe. We’re planning to travel around Italy and also visit Austria and Switzerland. A little different to my usual delivery routes!

What made you leap?

We’ve been thinking about it for a while, and now just felt right. Our daughter is married and settled, and my wife has been able to take a sabbatical from work. So, we’re really looking forward to a different pace of life and spending some quality time together.

What will you miss about ISF?

Definitely the people. We’re a close-knit team of hard-working folks. It’s been a brilliant place to work, and I’d like to say a huge thank you to Iain and the whole team. I’ve genuinely enjoyed my time here.

From everyone at ISF — thank you, Jim, and bon voyage!

We’ll miss Jim’s hard work, humour and team spirit, but we can’t wait to hear updates from his travels.

His departure means we’re now looking for someone new to join our team.

If you’re interested in stepping into Jim’s role, please read the job vacancy.
