Our client, a large animal feed mill in Lancashire was looking at ways to improve the quality of its pellets and rolls for animal feed and also handle the plant’s capacity at the same time.

We designed a system which incorporated two new Mogensen Sieves, each rated at 25 tonnes per hour, a higher rating than the mill’s existing ones, which were struggling to cope with the throughput.

However, the location of the sieves was at the top of the mill and the building required modification to install and accommodate them. Our solution was to design and build a new penthouse roof to cover the new system. The sieves had to be installed using a crane though the roof and the installation was carried out over a continuous 36 hour shutdown period to minimise the effects on plant production.
